Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) and Karonia.L (Harley x G-Ramiro Z) won Friday’s CSI4* 1.55m Fundacion Gijon Rural Trophy in Gijon, Spain.

With a time of 43.50 seconds in a jump-off of eight, Giesteira Almeida and Karonia.L bested a field of 46 horse-and-rider combinations – taking the win ahead of Jules Orsolini (FRA) and Charlotte 198 (Casall x Carry 22) in second in 51.66. Only the top two delivered a double clear round; despite clocking the fastest time – 43.28 – in the jump-off, Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Donatello d’Auge (Jarnac x Hello Pierville) had to settle for third when the first fence fell.

Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal (ESP) on Flonflon (Ogrion des Champs x Hurlevent de Breka) and Jur Vrieling (NED) aboard Kannan JR (Cornet Obolensky x Quick Star) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
