Edited press release from Hubside Jumping

Simon Delestre (FRA) and Chesall Zimequest (Casall x Concerto II) continued their fantastic form at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France, on Saturday. After winning Thursday's biggest class, the pair followed up with a victory in Saturday’s 1.50m class with jump-off counting for the Longines Ranking.

Nine horse-and-rider combinations qualified for the jump-off, with four of them delivering another clear round – Delestre and Chesall Zimequest were the fastest of them all with their 36.81 seconds.

“Chesall has returned to exceptional form!” Delestre said after his win. “Already in the first round of the class, I had a fantastic feeling. It is a treat, when he is in this state of mind – you can take so much risks because he is so talented, respectful and agile. When he is in this kind of form, he can win everything, and he has already shown it. It is not a coincidence that he was crowned the best horse in the world back in 2016. I must admit that I was a little afraid since Penelope’s mare is very fast, but I think I delivered the optimal jump-off.”

Second place went to Pieter Devos (BEL) with Kannabis van de Bucxtale (Contact van de Heffinck x Concorde), third place to Jerome Guery (BEL) with Grupo Prom Milton (Mylord Carthago*HN x Sandro Boy) and fourth place to Luciana Diniz (POR) with Conchento PS (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue). Penelope Leprevost (FRA) was the fastest in the jump-off riding Verite Une Prince (Number One d’Islo x Rosire), but after finishing on four faults she had to settle for fifth place.

Earlier in the day, the CSI5* 1.45m class counting for the Longines Ranking was won by Julien Anquetin (FRA) and Baya du Ter (Kannan x Poor Boy). Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) took the runner-up position with Golia (Bustique x Doriano) followed by Jerome Guery (BEL) with Garfield de Tiji des Templiers (Quasimodo Z x Goldspring de Lauzelle) in third place.

“I am really very satisfied with Baya du Ter," Anquetin said. "She is a mare who wins a lot quite regularly, but the last two shows we have come close to the first place but ended up with nothing. This week, I took too much risk the first two days. Today, I am relieved and very happy for the mare and for her owner Nathalie Prunet, who is present today and who really enjoyed herself."
