Sanne Thijssen (NED) and the 17-year-old stallion Con Quidam RB (Quinar Z x Cardino 5) won the CSIO3* 1.60m Badenia Grand Prix of MVV as the 59th edition of CSIO3* Mannheim concluded on Tuesday.
“It's my first time in Mannheim and the list of winners at the judges' tower is unbelievable,” Thjissen said in a press release. “The course was pretty technical, but my horse always knew what to do, we can both just rely on each other. The show is wonderful and well organized, the arena is great and so are the stables, and what's here for the grooms is just great.”
Eight pairs out of the 57 horse-and-rider-combinations at start cleared the first-round track set by Christa Jung (GER) and joined the deciding jump-off, where Thjissen and Con Quidam RB were the quickest – crossing the finish line in 41.65 seconds and taking the win ahead of the current world number one Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) and the 10-year-old Dzara Dorchival (Qlassic Bois Margot x Raphael) in 42.68. Then followed three home riders: Stefan Engbers (GER) and Baju NRW (Balou du Rouet x Calido I) placed third with a time of 44.55, while Marcel Marschall (GER) and Coolio (Casalito x Quidam de Revel) finished fourth in 45.15 and Ulrich Hensel (GER) fifth in 45.75 aboard Europa H (Escudo I x Alexis Z).
