Belgium's Wilm Vermeir continued his winning streak at CSIO4* Warsaw Jumping 2023 on Friday when topping the 1.55m Grand Prix presented by Orlen under the patronage of TVP Sport with his own 14-year-old Joyride S (Toulon x Pachat II, bred by Jan Van Ginderdeuren).
"Poland is my country, I just have to come here more often," the happy winner joked in a press release from Warsaw Jumping. "The jump-off itself was just perfect for me."
With a time of 41.24, Vermeir and Joyride S were the fastest pair in a jump-off between six horse-and-rider combinations and took the win ahead of Denmark's Lars Bak Andersen and Ethene (San Patrignano Corrado x Cayado, bred by Ferdinand Rutjes and owned by Hyperion Stud LLC) in second in 41.37.
Dominik Fuhrer (SUI) and Ghost (Lord Z x Cantos, bred by J.H. Dunnewind and owned by Albert & Ingrid Grob) placed third in 42.09, while Skye Higgin (GBR) and Djordania du Tillard (Air Jordan x Diamant de Semilly, bred and owned by Bernadette Lejeune) finished fourth in 42.20, followed by Michal Tyszko (POL) aboard Colinero (Cola x Escudo, bred by Witold Pietrozyk and owned by Marzena Falarz) in fifth in 43.88.
