Once again Ireland dominated in the Fontainebleau’s main arena today, at the Longines FEI Jumping Junior European Championships presented by the Haras du Val Henry.
After picking up team bronze earlier this week, Ireland's Jason Foley won the individual gold riding Castlefield Vegas (Cassino x breeding unkown) to a total of 5.59 penalty points.
“It’s incredible!” said the young Irishman. “These European Championships were my goal this year so I’m thrilled. We were in the top ten from the first day and then Castlefield Vegas gave me three clear rounds. Getting the team bronze was already great, so I’m really happy today!” he added.
Silver medallist with Disckoboy DN (Ard VDL Douglas x Silverstone), Great Britain’s Oliver Fletcher also seemed delighted with his fine performance after keeping on his score of 6.20 penalty points: “I’ve never felt so good! I would really like to thank everyone, especially the owners of my horse, Lady Kirkham and Lady Harris, for entrusting him to me a year and a half ago. I really appreciate them. Now we will offer him a little break because he gave us a lot,” he said.
Belgian rider Simon Morssinkhof, who only had one rail down in the second round with Vivolta de Grée (Diamant de Semilly x Sandro Boy), finished with the bronze medal after riding himself up the ranks – ending on a score of 11.31 penalty points.
