Concluding Sunday’s final round of the Dutch Championships at Equestrian Centre de Peelbergen with another beautiful clear, Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof's Dante (Canturano x Phin Phin) claimed the gold medal – finishing well ahead of their competitors with a total score of 2.08. It was a star-studded podium in Peelbergen: Harrie Smolders took the silver medal with Dolinn (Cardento x Lux) after finishing on a penalty score of 6.91 and the bronze medal went to former Olympic, World and European Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam on Oak Grove's Carlyle (Casall x Corrado I) with 7.56 penalty points.
After winning the gold, Marc Houtzager praised Sterrehof's Dante: "She jumped very well and gave me a fantastic feeling. She did not make a mistake during the whole championship, and that at her first major championship. The best of the Dutch riders are here. That makes it extra special to become a champion. And it was a serious championship, don't forget that. It was certainly not built lightly.”
