With the fastest and smoothest round of the class, Soer-favourite Richard Vogel (GER) and Phenyo van het Keysersbos (Corydon Van T&L x Heartbreaker) cruised to the win in Wednesday’s 1.45m Prize of Handwerk – the first CSIO5* class of the day at CHIO Aachen 2025 – for a second year running. The duo also won the Prize of Handwerk in 2024, and today proved to be on point with their form for the 2025-edition as well.
The 1.45m speed class had 50 horse-and-rider combinations lined up, but there was not one of them that could get close to Vogel who made it look like plain sailing aboard his 10-year-old stallion as he clocked what would turn out to be the winning time – 59.34 seconds – as no. 11 in the ring.
As second last to go, Denis Lynch (IRL) and King Blue (Dallas x Chacco-Blue) slotted into the runner-up spot after crossing the timers in 60.99 seconds. Pedro Veniss (BRA) and CS Hortencia (Etoulon VDL x Cassini II) were once again in the top three when finishing third with a time of 61.10 seconds. Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) and Comme le Coeur (Comme Il Faut 5 x Heartbreaker) finished fourth in 61.29 seconds, followed by Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) and Ester de Maugre (Vigo Cece x Ogano Sitte) in fifth in 61.34.
