Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt and the 12-year-old Coby (Contagio x Escudo 19) won Saturday night’s CSI5*-W 1.55m Longines Grand Prix presented by Sensormatic in La Coruña, Spain.

Nine out of the 41 horse-and-rider-combinations at start cleared the first-round track set by Spain’s own Santiago Varela and joined the deciding jump-off, where Weishaupt and Coby were the fastest pair – crossing the finish line in 34.19 seconds. After winning Friday’s feature class, Great Britain’s Harry Charles and the 11-year-old Billabong du Roumois (Mylord Carthago x Papillon Rouge) continued showing tremendous form but had to settle for the runner-up position this time around when the clock stopped on 35.58 for the young British rider who tops the FEI U25 ranking.

Ireland’s Jack Ryan – another young talent – and the 11-year-old Guppie VDL (Arezzo VDL x Cardento) placed third with a time of 38.50 in the jump-off, while Sweden’s Petronella Andersson and Claptonn Mouche (Conrad x Elan de La Cour) finished fourth with the last double clear of the Grand Prix. With four faults in the jump-off, Great Britain’s Jack Whitaker ended fifth aboard Equine America Valmy de la Lande (Mylord Carthago x Starter).
