Derin Demirsoy and Andres Vereecke victorious in Thursday's CSI4* 1.50m Big Tour at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2024

Week two of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2024 is underway in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, and with a field of 103 horse-and-rider combinations in Thursday's CSI4* 1.50m Big Tour against the clock – a Grand Prix qualifier – the class was split into two groups for the final standings. Derin Demirsoy (TUR) and the 15-year-old gelding Elzas (Diamant de Semilly x Cornet Obolensky) topped the first group, while Andres Vereecke (BEL) and the 12-year-old mare Call Me de Muze Z (Clarissimo Z x Ramiro Z) were best in group two – Demirsoy with a ligtning fast round in 56.10 seconds, in comparison Vereecke stopped the clock at 57.12 seconds.

The top three in group one was completed by Jordy van Massenhove (BEL) and Danger Civil vh Lindenhof Z (Diamant de Semilly x Silvio I) with a time of 57.34 seconds, followed by Rene Lopez Lizarazo (COL) aboard Kheros van't Hoogeinde (Echo van T Spieveld x Darco) in 57.89 seconds.

In group two, the runner-up spot went to Kars Bonhof (NED) and Ivoor TN (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Verdi TN) after the pair crossed the finish line in 57.79 seconds. Christoph Obernauer (AUT) took the third place with Kleons Renegade (Quintero x Stakkato) – clocking a time of 57.91 seconds.

The Sunshine Tour has record-breaking entries for its 30th anniversary; 3500 horses and more than 2000 riders with 60 different nationalities have been entered to compete at Montenmedio during the tour – that runs until 24th March.
