A dramatic showdown between three horse-and-rider combinations decided the CSIO5* 1.50m Falsterbo Derby 2026, with Swiss Martin Fuchs on Love de Vie (Grandorado TN x Vigo d’Arsouilles) defeating Sweden’s Peder Fredricson aboard Qurious HS (Comme Il Faut 5 x Diamant de Semilly) by just 95 hundredths of a second.

The crowd favorite Peder Fredricson was the first to ride a clear first round, much to the delight of the Swedish crowd. Abdel Saïd (BEL) on Wathnan Arpege du Ru (Apache d’Adriers x Quat’Sous) followed, also riding clear and securing a jump-off. Last out in the preliminary round was Martin Fuchs, who also delivered a faultless ride on Love de Vie and ensured that three horse-and-rider combinations would battle it out for the victory.

Peder Fredricson was first out in the jump-off and rode another fast and faultless round. Abdel Saïd also managed to ride twice faultless, but could not match the Swede's time.

Last out was Martin Fuchs. With the pressure to beat Fredricson's time, the Swiss delivered another faultless round and crossed the finish line 95 hundredths faster, which secured victory in the 2026 Falsterbo Derby.

“Peder put pressure on us with his fast round. I knew I had to be fast, but my horse is naturally fast and I was a little lucky in the jump-off. It's the first time I've won this historic derby. Going in as the last rider and beating the "Swedish hero" was a special moment,” said Martin Fuchs after the class.

The victory means that Martin Fuchs will now have his name engraved on the prestigious Falsterbo Derby trophy. He also joins the exclusive group of riders who have won both the Agria Falsterbo Nations Cup, the Falsterbo Grand Prix and the Falsterbo Derby at one of equestrian sport's most iconic competition arenas.
