After starting up his own business at the end of August, Henrik von Eckermann was seen at the CSI2* Brussels Stephex Masters with a string of new horses.

In Brussels, Henrik competed the 7-year-old gelding Ecuador W (Canturano x Sheraton), the 10-year-old mare Mary Lou 194 (Montendro x Portland L) and the 9-year-old gelding Hermes De Mariposa (Canturo x Power Light). Hermes De Mariposa has previously been ridden by Belgian rider Annelies Vorsselmans, and the pair was placed 5th in CSI3* Grand Prix in Drachten and 6th in the CSI2* Grand Prix in Zuidbroek in January 2016.

"The weekend in Brussels was a great opportunity for me to get to know these new horses a little bit better and I am very happy with how they performed," Henrik tells WOSJ after his first weekend on his own.

Back at his new base near Bonn, at Karl Schneider's yard, waits a few more horses that will be taken out to competition in the coming weeks. One of them is the 13-year-old stallion Conte Bellini (Cornet Obolensky x Ramiro Z), that has competed in the World Cup Finals both in Gothenburg in 2013 as well as in Lyon in 2014 with Latvian rider Kristap Neretnieks. "I will wait with Conte Bellini until the indoor season starts and the plan is to bring him to the CSI2* in Riesenbeck at the beginning of October," says Henrik.

Two horses have followed Henrik from Ludger Beerbaum’s stables to his new base; the 7-year-old Catoki-son Catover as well as his Olympic mount Yajamila (Lux-Daimler).
