Patrice Delaveau's top horse Aquila HDC (Ovidius x Lauriston) will miss out on the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon after sustaining an injury in Rotterdam last weekend.
The 13-year-old gelding's injury was announced by his owners at Haras des Coudrettes, that posted the following statement on Facebook: "We have the sadness to inform you that Aquila HDC's injury will require a period of rest that will prevent him from accompanying Patrice to the World Equestrian Games in Tryon this year. We take great care of him to allow him to come back in shape."
With Aquila HDC, Delaveau – defending Vice-Champion from the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen – won the five-star Grand Prix classes at the Longines Masters of Hong Kong as well as in La Baule this year, and the two were to make their second Nations Cup appearance for France for the season in Rotterdam where they also finished 10th in the Grand Prix.
