Billy Twomey (IRL) and the 9-year-old gelding Kimba Flamenco (Je T’Aime Flamenco x Heartbreaker) won Saturday’s CSIO5* 1,60m Trofeo Caja Rural de Gijón after being the fastest out of nine double clears pairs in the class – crossing the finish line in 35,05 seconds.

The course consisted of 13 fences and 16 efforts, and 65 horse-and-rider combinations competed in the class – with 12 of them qualifying for the jump-off.

Lisa Nooren (NED) took the runner-up position riding Hocus Pocus de Muze (Tinka’s Boy x For Pleasure), after ending the jump-off in 35,71 seconds. Nooren was followed by her compatriot Sanne Thijssen (NED) with Bulavsco (Verdi TN x Corland) in third.
