Jérôme Guery, reigning European Champion with the Belgian team, won Friday's feature class at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France – the CSI4* 1.50m with a jump-off. This was the second win in just as many days for Guery and the stallion Eras Ste Hermelle (Vargas de Ste Hermelle x Andiamo) as the pair also won Thursday's 1.45m. Irish rider Denis Lynch and Cristello (Numero Uno x Voltaire) followed 0.51 seconds behind in the jump-off to take the runner-up position while third place went to home rider Olivier Perreau on GL Events Venizia d'Aiguilly (Diamant de Semilly x Quick Star) – 0.01 behind Lynch.
"Hubside Jumping is our first competition after lockdown. I competed in the CSI5* last week already and the horses were exceptional. This week, my son and my wife joined me. The week has had a good start, with a victory yesterday with Eras Ste Hermelle and today was our day again! This morning, my son Mathieu had two victories and then I won the big class," Guery commented. "I would like to warmly thank Sadri Fegaier and his team: Being here, with this exceptional setting and superb conditions that one could only dream of."
"My horse has already shown that he can go fast, especially with his victory yesterday," Guery continued. "I took all the risks; there was nothing else to do anyway. The main goal for the week is the Grand Prix with Quel Homme de Hus. Last week, we had a time fault so I'm going to try to go faster this time," Guery laughed.
