50th Holsteiner Verband Elite Riding-Horse Auction Sale and Stallion Grading

Step by step, horse shows have been getting under way again. And breed events are permitted again under strict hygiene regulations with restrictions as to the number of visitors. This also includes the highlight on the calendar of the Holsteiner horse enthusiasts. And so it’s all about the Holsteiner horse once again in the Neumuenster Holsten hall from 29 to 32 October.

33 riding horses definitely deserving of the “elite” designation have been assembled for the collection by Roland Metz, executive manager of the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH. From three-year-old youngsters boasting pedigrees with great promise for the future to highly placed sport horses to a finalist of the 2020 National Championship, the collection of horses leaves nothing to be desired. “We are pleased to be able to having the Cornet Obolensky son Combat SR included in our auction selection. Just recently, the Westphalia and Oldenburg licensed stallion shone with excellent performances at the National Championship”, says Metz. But Combat is just one of the highly promising lots in this exquisite collection offering numerous other interesting horses, all of them from dam lines with internationally successful produce.

Like for example four-year-old Cash Air by Cash and Carry – his second dam is no less than Panam Air by Contender – dam to Quiwi Dream (Hans-Dieter Dreher/Pia Reich), a stallion who met with a much too early death. Or else another four-year-old, Kamina by Kannan-Lord Z – her second dam, Tamina by Corrado I, is also dam to Caillou (Karl Cook/USA), a jumper successfully shown to 1.60m level. A three-year-old filly offered for sale holds great promise for breeding and sport and comes from the famous breeding programme of Professor Dr. Schmidt; we are talking about a daughter or Cascadello I, Karenina, from mare family 104A. Her dam has already produced several top horses, like for example the 2017 Holsteiner State Champion, Ekatharina by Casall, now successfully shown at international level by Pheline Ahlmann. The produce of her second dam, Tyra by Landgraf I, includes the licensed sport stallions Clapton VDL by Caretino (Cindy van der Straaten/BEL) and Corland VDL by Cor de la Bryère (Wout-Jan van der Schans/BEL), both successfully shown at 1.60m level as well as the latter’s full sister BB Corlandia, with placings at 1.60m level under Willi Melliger. Another of the three-year-old uncut diamonds attested particular quality and excellence this year by Roland Metz, is a daughter of Zuccero by Zirocco Blue, a jumper well on his way to advanced level with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. But not only the sire of Zamantha, as the grey filly from mare family 6879 is called, is interesting, considering that her second dam, Fayence by Cor de la Bryère, is a full sister to Corrado I.

We could continue listing the top successful relatives of each and every lot of the 50th Holsteiner elite riding horse auction sale. But best get your own impression of this auction selection which is special in every respect! The first public presentation is on Sunday, 11 October at 2:00pm in the Elmshorn Fritz-Thiedemann indoor arena.

Of course ClipMyHorse.tv will live stream the entire event for all those unable to attend in person. The same goes for the auction sale on 31 October. “Hybrid auctions have become common practise this year“, says Roland Metz. You may bid for your future Holsteiner live in the Holsten hall, as always on the phone or comfortable and convenient online from any place in the world. Find the 33 auction lots online on https://www.holsteiner.auction/de/.

For all questions concerning the auction sale as well as the horses put up for auction, feel free to contact Roland Metz anytime, same as for the licensed stallions and non-licensed colts to be auctioned after the announcement of the grading results on Saturday, 31 October. Same as with the riding horses, you can find extraordinary stallions here. Star sires like Casall and Cornet Obolensky have a great influence on the 2020 cohort, but also Diamant de Semilly is frequently represented through his sons and grandsons, providing the desired diversity through Diarado, Dominator Z and Dinken. Of course the selection also includes offspring by Colman and his son Catch, younger stallions like Quiwi Capitol and Carbol and “classic“ Holsteiners like Cascadello I, Livello or for example Clarimo. And then the sons of international sires and so-called out-cross stallions like for example Quabri de L’isle SF, I’m Special de Muze BWP, Flipper d‘Elle SF and Emerald van het Ruytershof, all of which might offer interesting genetic alternatives with one offspring each. “This age group has a relatively wide genetic range”, breeding director Dr. Thomas Nissen sums up.

The Neumuenster stallion grading kicks off on 29 October, with the auction sales held on Saturday, 31 October. The marketing and auction GmbH team round executive manager Roland Metz (+49 171 4364651) is happy to provide advice.
