Janika Sprunger’s 10-year-old BWP-gelding Little Magic d'Asschaut (Back Gammon x Nonstop) has been sold to the US. Competed by Belgium’s Rachel Steffen until he was six, Janika Sprunger took over the reins on Little Magic d'Asschaut in the summer of 2017 – producing the gelding all the way up through to 1.50m level. More recently, Sprunger’s partner Henrik von Eckermann has been competing Little Magic d'Asschaut – the pair won the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, in November 2020 and placed fourth in a CSI4* 1.55m class in Wellington, Florida, last week.
"Janika and I always believed in this horse,” von Eckermann comments to World of Showjumping. “He has an unbelievable character and he always wants to do the right thing. Lately, he showed this to us in his results too: He won a three-star Grand Prix at the Sunshine Tour at the end of 2020. Last week, he jumped great and was placed in a 1.55m class here in Wellington. We hope that he will keep on going on this path: We really believe he is an exceptional horse. We wish all the best to the new owners!"
On her Instagram account, Janika Sprunger writes: "Some goodbyes are harder than others... Thank you Little Magic. It’s been 4 years since i fell for him at first sight at the Valkenswaard 6y old classes. There was not one day he disappointed us but gave us so much joy over all these years. I’m sure he will keep making us proud jumping with his new owner under the American flag. He received such a warm welcome at his new home that we’re sure he is in best hands! Thank you to all my team that took along this journey with him, he will be badly missed."
