Bernardo Alves (BRA) and the 10-year-old Mosito van het Hellehof (Elvis ter Putte x Nabab de Reve) won Sunday’s CSI4* 1.55m Suzuki Grand Prix at the Andalucia Sunshine Tour.

Fifty riders had qualified for today’s Grand Prix, that saw only five clear over Leopoldo Palacios’ demanding course in the David Broome arena to move on to the jump-off – where two of them managed to stay on a clean sheet. Fastest was Alves in 40.29 seconds, a time no one could match.

"The competition here is impressive and I’m delighted with the installations, the organisation and the fact that you can compete in classes designed by the very best course designers in the world. We are really happy and we will be back next year without any doubt at all,” Alves said after his win.

Holly Smith (GBR) posted the second and last double clear in the Grand Prix aboard Fruselli (Zambesi TN x Karandasj), finishing in 40.81 seconds. Two Irish riders followed in third and fourth; Susan Fitzpatrick on Verdict de Kezeg (Diamant de Semilly x Vas Y Donc Longane) and Cameron Hanley on ESI Toulouse (SIEC Livello x Quasimodo van de Molendreef) who both had an unlucky pole in the jump-off, as did  Sara Vingralkova (CZE) who was fifth with Quisandro (Quintero x Gaspari I).

In the CSI4* 1.50m Medium Tour Grand Prix, which also counted for the world ranking, Bruce Goodin (NZL) took the win with Backatorps Danny V (Quasimodo Z x Lupicor). Goodin was the fastest of the twenty riders in the jump-off, when stopping the clock at 39.28 seconds. Dominique Hendrickx (BEL) and Koriano Van Klapscheut (Lord Z x Darco) took the second place in 40.16, while Penelope Leprevost (FRA) and Texas (Tornesch x Robin Z) finished third in 40.20. Richard Howley (IRL) followed in fourth with Fame (Harley x Investment), while William Fletcher (GBR) finished fifth with Ginadina PP (Cabrio van de Heffinck x Winningmood), both double clear.
