The win in Thursday’s CSI5*-W 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier in Riyadh (KSA) went to the host nation’s Abdulrahman Alrajhi and the 13-year-old gelding Heartbeat W (Baloubet du Rouet x Heartbreaker).
With a time of 61.94 seconds, Alrajhi and Heartbeat W bested a field of 26 horse-and-rider combinations, taking the win ahead of Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and Esteban de Hus (Cornet Obolensky x Baloubet du Rouet) in second in 63.53 and David Will (GER) aboard Xixo Borgia (Big Star x Sandro Boy) in third just fractions behind in 63.55. Riding Nikolaj de Music (Kannan x Nabab de Reve) Gaudiano finished fourth, followed by Alrajhi with his second horse – the 12-year-old Ventago (Van Helsing x Hunter’s Scnedix) in fifth.
