Christian Ahlmann took a popular home win in Friday night's feature class in Stuttgart, the Mercedes German Master competition. The 1.60 class had twelve riders lined up to compete in it, all qualified through two 1.50 rounds on Thursday and Friday.
Five of them did not make it through to the jump-off, which ended up as a very fast affair with the riders racing each other for the top prize - a Mercedes.
Entering the ring half-way in to the jump-off, Ahlmann set up a blistering pace on the 12-year-old stallion Colorit (Coriano x Capitol I) - blazing around to not only deliver the first clear, but also bringing the time down to an incredible 33.06 seconds.
None of those to come could cath up with the German rider; Great Britain's John Whitaker gave it his best shot on Argento (Arko II x Gasper) - but had to settle for second this time around as he finished on 34.57 on Ornellaia. Home rider Alexander Hinz ended third on the impressive Campitello (Concetto x.Come On) with the last clear of the jump-off.
