After a jump-off full of action Christian Ahlmann and Aragon Z (Askari x Kolibri) won the Championat von Leipzig on Saturday afternoon. As many as seventeen combinations qualified for the jump-off, but only six of them cleared the shortened track.
Second place went to Denis Lynch and Abbervail van het Dingeshof (Nonstop x Jus de Pomme) while Philipp Weishaupt secured third place with Cordalme-son Chico.
Christian is always doing very well in Leipzig, and commented this after the class; "I have been riding several great classes here in Leipzig: Except from last year my horses always jump very well here. One of the highlights in my career was when I won the World Cup Final here with Taloubet Z. That was a fantastic happening that I really enjoy looking back on. At some shows it just works and Leipzig is that show for me. Today in the jump-off I had one turn where the distance totally disappeared so we lost some time there, but I still managed to win and that just happens on the shows where you have the flow."
"I'm used to be second after Christian, that's happened several times before," Denis Lynch said with a laugh. "Even though Christian lost some time in one of the turns he managed to win and that just says how fast he was around the rest of the course."
Philipp Weishaupt rode Chico who is breed and owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze; "Chico is huge - he is 1,90 m high! In Frankfurt there was a small door between the two warm-ups and he couldn't get through with the saddle on, so we had to take it off every time. Here in Leipzig we don't have that problem, since everything is a bit bigger. But he is in a really good form and has been doing great the last three shows. Actually the big outdoor arenas suits him a bit better since he is so big, but I don't complain if he is doing well indoor as well," Philipp said happily.
