The 2023-edition of Stuttgart German Masters hosts the fifth leg of the 2023/2024 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League this weekend and the action at Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle got underway on Thursday with a home win for Germany's very own Hans-Dieter Dreher and his 14-year-old Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S, bred by M. Rudy Cock, Mme Christine Cock-Leva and Le Mesnil Rouxelin) in the CSI5*-W 1.50m Prize of Firma XXL-Sicherheit.
With a time of 58.86 seconds in the 1.50m class judged as a Table C, counting for the Longines Ranking Group D, Dreher took the win ahead of Harry Charles (GBR) and Billabong du Roumois (Mylord Carthago x Papillon Rouge, bred by Philippe Berthol) in second in 59.03. With the smallest of margins separating the top ranked riders, Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER) and Carla NRW (Comme Il Faut x Potsdam NRW, bred by Schulze Isfort and Karl Heinz) placed third in 59.07.
Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Albfuehren's Iashin Sitte (Bamako de Muze x Tinka's Boy, bred by Daniel Boudrenghien) finished fourth in 61.22, followed by Scott Brash (GBR) aboard Hello Mr President (Comme d'Api v/d Hacienda Z x unknown, bred by Bvba Euro Equitation) in fifth in 61.77.
