Longines FEI World Cup Final 2014
The winners: Daniel Deusser and Cornet D'Amour - clear in all rounds in Lyon, and well deserved champions! All photos (c) Jenny Abrahamsson.
Two penalties behind followed Ludger Beerbaum and Chiara that ended as vice-champions.
They are both ranked best in the world; the third placed pair Scott Brash and Ursula XII ended on a five penalty score.
After being clear in all rounds and displaying how amazing they are together, they would have deserved a place on the podium - but they ended up just outside as fourth on a six penalty score: Marcus Ehning and Cornado NRW.
It didn't last all the way for the super pair Steve Guerdat and Nino des Buissonnets who ended fifth after being in the lead ahead of the two final rounds today.
Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Verdi did a fantastic job, ending as number six. They only had one pole down - in the last round today.
The champions from 2013 - Beezie Madden and Simon - had to settle for 7th with a penalty score of twelve.
Pius Schwizer did not end on the podium, but must be very happy with the way his two horses performed - Toulago is only nine and a horse we will see a lot more from. In the end the Swiss rider finished as number eight.
Three American riders ended in the top ten, and here is the second one: McLain Ward. Rotschild jumped incredible today, being clear in the first round and had one pole down in the second.
Number ten: Charlie Jayne and Chill R Z did a super final and were clear in today's first round and then recorded a single time penalty in the second.
