It was French success in Friday's CSI5*-W 1.50m presented by Banca Passadore at Jumping Verona, as Julien Anquetin and the 10-year-old gelding Cesus de Fougnard (Tlaloc M x Calvaro) bested the field of 44 horse-and-combinations with a clear round in 62.48 seconds. Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and Joyride S (Toulon x Pachat II) took the runner-up position after stopping the clock at 54.14, followed by Harrie Smolders (NED) and Une de l’Othain (Conterno Grande x Cento) in third with a time of 64.31.

“I am very happy and proud of Cesus de Fougnard’s performance because this was his first competition in an indoor 5*. I had in mind to go fast, and he did it to the best of his ability from the start and came out with a great time. Tomorrow I will ride with him in the Small GP and on Sunday I will aim with Blood Diamond du Pont for the Longines FEI World Cup," said the happy winner after topping this class counting for the Longines Ranking.

Earlier in the day, Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) took a home win in the 1.45m presented by Prestige, riding Dirka de Blondel (Very Berlin de Castel x Lauterbach).
