Julien Gonin (FRA) and the 11-year-old mare Estrella de la Batia (Diamant de Semilly x Lando) won Saturday's CSI5*-W 1.50m Prize of Gerüstbau Nordwest – a competition counting for the Longines Rankings Group C – at the 2025-edition of Longines CHI Classics Basel in Switzerland.
With a time of 55.70 seconds, the French duo took the win ahead of Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) and Solidat (Semper Fi x Chacco-Blue) in second in 56.00, while Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) and Talina du Vivier Z (Taalex x Quick Star) placed third in 56.64, followed by Yuri Mansur (BRA) and Clariquada T (Clarimo x Coronado) in fourth in 57.66 and Bryan Balsiger (SUI) aboard Castiel (Casalito x Clearway) in fifth in 60.83.
"She is very good for this kind of 1.50-1.55m classes," the happy winner told World of Showjumping about his horse. "She is careful and really fast – this is easy for her. I am looking forward to the summer season with her because she fits better in the big grass arenas, places like Calgary or La Baule. She is very hot, and smaller arenas like here are a bit more complicated with her."
