Jur Vrieling (NED) and the 15-year-old stallion Grand Slam VDL (Cardento x Heartbreaker) won Friday night’s CSI5*-W 1.55m Range Rover Cup in Leipzig, Germany, where the Partner Pferd Leipizig 2026 hosts the 9th stop of the 2025/2026-season of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League this weekend.
Friday’s 1.55m Range Rover Cup – a competition counting for the Longines Rankings Group B – was also a qualifier for Sunday’s Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™. As the 20th pair to go, Vrieling and Grand Slam VDL stopped the clock on 63.72, taking the top honours ahead of the host nation’s very own Michael Jung and Fischerheros Z (Hotspot x Odermus), who had to settle for second with a time of 64.65. Victor Bettendorf (LUX) and Doha de Riverland (Nabab de Reve x Quaprice Boimargot Quincy) placed third in 66.11, followed by Eiken Sato (JPN) with Chadellano Jra (Chacco-Blue x Centadel) in fourth in 66.39, and Patrick Stühlmeyer (GER) aboard Conterno-Blue PS (Veyron x Chacco-Blue) in fifth in 66.95.
“I am very, very happy to have Grand Slam,” Vrieling said at the press conference afterwards. “He has an incredible character, and he is simple to ride. I have to compliment the organizers here; the atmosphere is amazing. I am proud to have been able to win here.”
