Friday's highlight at the second leg of the 2023 Morocco Royal Tour in Rabat was the CSIO4*-W 1.55m World Cup Grand Prix, Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Amina. Counting for the Longines Ranking, the competition over two rounds had 37 horse-and-rider-combinations at start.
With a double clear in a time of 41.53, Belgium's Marine Scauflaire and Cuba Libre de Nevada Z (Charlekijn Van T&L x Thunder vd Zuuthoeve, bred by Karel Van Damme and owned by Patrick Dalle), took the win ahead of Italy's Roberto Previtali and Conthargo-Blue (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue, bred and owned by Gestüt Lewitz) in second in 41.69.
"Cuba Libre de Nevada Z has been moving in the right direction for a few months now, but I didn't expect him to win here," Scauflaire said in a press release from Morocco Royal Tour. "But every time, for several months now, he's been there. I set off in this second round with the sole aim of getting a clear round, but not to win, as Cuba Libre is still relatively 'green' and not everything is yet perfect... but the game has turned in our favor today."
France's Jeanne Sadran and Kosmo Van Hof Ter Boone (Arko III x Pachat, bred by Johan and Marleen Vandamme-Covereur and owned by Chev'El) placed third, while Switzerland's Barbara Schnieper and Escoffier (Lord Z x Numero Uno, bred by Mts. Stultiens and owned by Martin Hauser) finished fourth, followed by Portugal's Duarte Seabra and Dourados 2 (Diarado x Cornet Obolensky, bred by Gretel Schulze-Buxloh and owned by Carol Gee and Duarte Seabra) in fifth.
