Germany's Mario Stevens and the 10-year-old mare Carrie 22 (Christian x Couleur Rubin) won Saturday night's CSI5*-W 1.50/1.60m Rikstoto Grand Prix – counting for the Longines Ranking Group B – at the Agria Oslo Horse Show in the Norwegian capital.
Six horse-and-rider combinations from the 40 pairs at start cleared the first-round track set by Peter Lundström (SWE) and joined the jump-off, where Stevens and Carrie 22 clocked the fastest time when crossing the finish line in 39.08 – taking the win ahead of France's Kevin Staut and Dialou Blue PS (Diarado's Boy x Chacco-Blue) in second in 39.11.
Sweden's Emma Emanuelsson and Canbella Blue PS (Cantolar x Chacco-Blue) placed third with a time of 39.22 seconds, while the hosts' own Victoria Gulliksen and Equine America Papa Roach (Periqueux x Zeus) finished fourth in 39.64. A fence down in 38.29 seconds left Austria's Katharina Rhomberg and Cuma 5 (Comme Il Faut x Ars Vivendi) fifth.
"We were fast, but it wasn't our fastest," Stevens said in a press release from Agria Oslo Horse Show. "She has a gigantic stride, and I never have to worry about the time. Starissa is a year older and has long been my top horse in the stable, but Carrie is really starting to challenge that position."
The second CSI5*-W class of the day, the 1.45m presented by Agria – a class counting for the Longines Ranking Group D – went to Brazil's Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and the 12-year-old gelding Carte de Blue PS Marathon (Cartoon x Chacco-Blue). Peder Fredricson (SWE) and Hansson WL (Hip Hop x Iowa) took the runner-up spot, followed by Philip Rüping (GER) and For Dilando PS (For Pleasure x Chacco-Blue) in third.
