This weekend, the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League 2024/2025-season kicks off in Oslo, Norway.
The five-star classes got underway on Friday, with Germany's Philipp Schulze Topphof and the 11-year-old mare Carla NRW (Comme Il Faut x Potsdam NRW) starting the weekend in the Norwegian capital with a win in the CSI5* 1.50m presented by Gjelsten Holding, a class counting for the Longines Ranking Group D.
Stopping the clock on 56.93, the German duo took the win ahead of Brazil's Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Grand Slam VDL (Cardento x Heartbreaker) in second in 59.00 and France's Kevin Staut aboard Visconti du Telman (Toulon x Dollar du Murier) in third in 60.45.
Yuri Mansur (BRA) and Vitiki (Valentino x For Expo) finished fourth with a time of 60.85 and the hosts' own Therese Søhol Henriksen on Iron Maiden (Quasimodo vd Molendreef x Indorado) fifth in 60.87.
"This was definitely a great start to the weekend," Schulze-Topphof said in a press release from Agria Oslo Horse Show. "Carla has a strong personality. People often say chestnut mares have that, but even for a chestnut, she’s really sharp. She always fights with me and responds to the smallest of signals.I rode her in her first competitions, and we’ve trained her slowly. It's me, my father, and my sister who have educated her. Last week, we competed in the first indoor event of the season near our farm in Münsterland, and the goal was set on Oslo."
