German rider Philipp Weishaupt won Friday's CSI5*-W 1.55m Longines FEI Jumping World Cup of Riyadh, riding the 11-year-old gelding Coby (Contagio x Escudo 19).
Only three riders managed to deliver double clear rounds, and fastest in the second round was Weishaupt who stopped the clock at 39.91 seconds. Sweden's Peder Fredricson and Hansson WL (Hip Hop x Iowa) finished in runner-up position, with a time of 41.03 seconds. Australia's Edwina Tops-Alexander continued her flying form with Fellow Castlefield (Je T'Aime Flamenco x Twister) to round off the podium in third place, after crossing the finish line in 42.18 seconds. Germany's Daniel Deusser and Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One d'Iso x Diamant de Semilly) looked on track to take the win, but the pair risked it all and added four faults to their total in the jump-off – taking the fourth place. Fifth place went to Russia's Egor Shchibrik on Cornet's Spirit (Cornet Obolensky x Con Air) after they too had an unlucky rail in the jump-off.
