Germany's Richard Vogel and Caracho (Cassilano x Quick Star) took a home win in Saturday's CSI5*-W 1.50m CG Elementum Championat of Leipzig at the 2023-edition of Partner Pferd Leipzig.

Stopping the clock on 33.67 in a jump-off between 19 horse-and-rider-combinations, Vogel and the 11-year-old Caracho secured the top honours ahead of compatriot Tim Rieskamp-Gödeking who finished second aboard Coldplay (Chacco-Blue x Pilox) with a time of 34.05.

“I watched Tim Rieskamp-Gödeking on the screen, and had the plan to not risk too much at the beginning but to get into the flow well," Vogel said about his thoughts ahead of the jump-off. "However, I had planned one stride less to the last jump and that worked out very well.”

"I have had him for nine months," Vogel said about his horse Caracho. "He is always good for such a quick jump-off and grows very well into these difficult tasks. He always wants to do well."

Brazil's Yuri Mansur and the 10-year-old Hellix du Seigneur (Curby du Seigneur x Calvaro) placed third with a time of 36.30, while Maurice Tebbel (GER) and Chacco's Light (Chacco's Son x Light On) finished fourth in 35.56 and Carsten-Otto Nagel (GER) fifth in 37.90 aboard GK Curacao (Clarimo x Lerano).

The second CSI5*-W class of the day, the 1.45m Partner Pferd Speed Cup, went to Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Chana de Valeme (Nabab de Reve x Urbain du Monnai). With a time of 53.09, Epaillard took the win ahead of Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and Linguini de La Pomme (Marius Claudius x Tinka's Boy) in the runner-up position in 54.76, and Benjamin Wulschner (GER) in third in 56.17 aboard Prieuré (Perigueux x Acord II).
