The 36th edition of the Stuttgart German Masters kicked off on Thursday with the hosts showing great form as Germany's very own Philipp Weishaupt and Krokant (Kannan x Loran) took the top honours in the feature class of the day – the CSI5*-W 1.50m Prize of Firma XXL-Sicherheit.
Judged as a Table C, the 1.50m class had 42 horse-and-rider-combinations at start. Stopping the clock on 61.67, Weishaupt took the win ahead of his compatriots Marcus Ehning and Funky Fred (For Pleasure x Pilot) in second, while Gerrit Nieberg and Blues d'Aveline CH (Baloussini x Coriall 2) followed in third. Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) – current world number one – and Glamour Girl (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I) placed fourth, while the fifth spot went to Martin Fuchs (SUI) – current world number two – and Rahmannshof Upgrade (Ultimo x Baloubet du Rouet).
Earlier in the day, the CSI5*-W 1.45m Prize of Bardusch GmbH & Co KG Textil-Mietdienste went to Michael Jung (GER) and Fischerchelsea (Check In 2 x Argent). Bryan Balsiger (SUI) and Urbanus Z (Ugano Sitte x Voltaire) took the runner-up position, while Marc Dilasser (FRA) and E2K Abricot Ennemmelle (Quaprice Bois Margot x Lux Z) placed third, Sophie Hinners (GER) and FBW Graphik (Graf Rhapsody x Numero Uno) fourth and Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER) and Carla (Comme Il Faut 5 x Potsdam NRW) fifth.
Belgium's Gudrun Patteet and Sea Coast Donna Z (Diamant de Semilly x C Indoctro) won the first CSI5*-W 1.45m class of the day ahead of Jessica Burke (IRL) and Inpulss (Dallas VDL x Indorado) in second and Bryan Balsiger (SUI) and Just Special VK (Falaise de Muze x Toulon) in third. Noora Pentti (FIN) and Con Caya (Con Chello x Chambertin 3) placed fourth and Patrick Stühlmeyer (GER) and Drako de Maugre (Kannan x Fusain du Defey HN) fifth.
