The stands were packed and the energy electric as nine nations lined up for the CSIO5* Agria Falsterbo Nations Cup at the 2025-edition of Falsterbo Horse Show, where it was the Swedish team that delivered the ultimate performance – claiming victory in front of their home crowd in spectacular fashion.

The first round saw teams from the USA, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Brazil, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and Argentina compete over a demanding course set by Frank Rothenberger (GER). Ireland’s Billy Twomey on Jumping Jack van de Kalevallei (Kannan x Chin Chin) set the tone early with the first clear round of the day.

By the end of the first round, four teams were tied with just four penalties each: Robert Ridland’s USA, Guy Hodgson’s Ireland, Peter van der Waaij’s Switzerland and Henrik Ankarcrona’s home side Sweden. Argentina, finishing ninth after round one, did not return for the second round.

The battle intensified in round two, with top performances and dramatic moments. Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann on Minute Man (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Montender 2) and Amanda Landeblad on Springfield 21 (Stakkato Gold x Classiker) both delivered flawless double clears, while Petronella Andersson and Olympke van'T Merelsnest (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Quick Star) made a strong comeback with a clean round after an unlucky four faults at the water in round one. Peder Fredricson and Alcapone des Carmille (Diamant de Semilly x Heartbreaker) posted two solid rounds, both with four faults, being the dropscore for the Swedes that finished on a total of four faults.

The USA kept the pressure high with a double clear from Spencer Smith and Keeneland (Carmena Z x Quattro B), while Billy Twomey continued his great form with a second clear for Ireland. However, the Swedish team, fuelled by the roaring home crowd, edged ahead with consistency and precision — sealing an emotional and well-deserved victory ahead of the U.S. team in second and Ireland in third — both on eight penalties.
