Gregory Wathelet saved the best for last, to win the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for 7-year-old horses on Mjt Nevados S (Calvados Z x Romualdo). It was a popular home win for Wathelet, who went into the jump-off towards eleven other competitors - after a tough first round were horses and riders were faced with a big 1.45 track that got even higher for the second round.
Nobody could do anything with Wathelet and the PZHK-stallion though, not even the notoriously fast British rider Laura Renwick on the Irish bred MHS Washington (O.B.O.S. Quality 004 x Cavalier Royale) who had to settle for silver after being 0.16 seconds behind on the clock this time around. The bronze went to Ireland's Eoin McMahon on another Irish bred horse; Talks Cheap (Tinaranas Inspector x Colin Diamond) - who was two seconds behind the winning time.
