The summer edition of The Billy Stud Online Auction came to a close on Sunday night and saw the average sale price across the 10 horses grow to almost €31,000.

The highest price of the night was the Billy Congo sired Billy Xenia who was purchased for €65,000 by Chris Ellis. Following the auction Chris said: "I feel that the future of buying horses is without a doubt online auctions conducted in the way The Billy Stud Has developed. The auction format also gives purchasers the added confidence when you are bidding on a horse that others value it in the same way you do."

Billy Be Blue will be heading to Ireland following a successful bid of £41,500 while Billy Cossette will be leaving for the USA with a bid of €22,500 securing her.

Lone Star Farms were the successful bidders on both Billy Be Boss (€38,000) and Billy Mufasa (€37,000).

William Funnell concluded: "We were confident in the quality of the horses that we brought forward for this auction and believe all the purchasers have bought horses with a great future in the sport. On a personal note, I was delighted to see that 2 out of the top 3 prices were sired by Billy Congo (Billy Xenia and Billy Be Boss). His breeding career is going from strength to strength and his offspring keep proving themselves as horses with huge potential."
