Holsteiner Verband auction sale

On 1-4 July, it’s going to be exciting at Hof Waterkant, the home of world champion Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and her husband Christoph Zimmermann, with the couple hosting a CSI*** offering many highlights other than a Holsteiner Verband foal auction sale.

“I owe a great deal to the horse shows in the north”, Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann told the press when asked why, in the middle of the Covid 19 pandemic, she had decided to launch a new horse show in Schleswig-Holstein. Now, about a week before the event is to kick off, the Covid situation has fortunately calmed down so much that even visitors are also welcome.

And there is quite a lot they can look forward to: in addition to high calibre sport, they will be treated to culinary delights by Hamburg celebrity chef Cornelia Poletto’s team and on Saturday evening twelve very special foals will be put to auction in a hybrid sale format.

Roland Metz, Holsteiner Verband head of marketing, is in charge of the lot. “The offered foals are by international top sires and from dam lines with current sport performance records, complemented by some foals by up-and-coming and young stallions”, knows executive director Roland Metz.

Needless to say, the collection does not come without first season offspring by Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann’s promising young talent Chinchero; three of the twelve foals are by the reserve champion of the 2019 Holsteiner stallion grading, one of them hip no 10, whose second dam is also dam to 1.60m level jumper Lando by Landjunge.

It goes on internationally: for example right away hip no 1. She is no other than a half sister to Daniel Deußer’s Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z. The chestnut filly’s sire is Chacco Blue. The dam line of hip no 4 is equally successful in competition. The young colt is called Blue Wave – drawing on his famous half brother fischerWildWave, short listed for the Tokyo Olympics with crack eventing rider Michi Jung. Blue Wave is by Baloubet du Rouet son Baloucan. Another exciting pedigree is that of hip no 7, a son by Don VHP from the direct dam line of Rosalia la Silla, who placed fifth in the London Olympics, and thus from the Holsteiner mare family 1907 which has already produced numerous 1.60m level horses. From Tangelo van de Zuuhthoeve, Diamant de Semilly to Chilli Willi, there is interesting blood involved and all this secured on the basis of proven Holsteiner mare families.

The foal auction sale is scheduled for the Saturday evening (3 July) of the horse show. For all questions about the lots Roland Metz (+49 171 4364 651 or [email protected]) will be happy to answer all your questions concerning the lots.
