The renowned stallion Vagabond de La Pomme (Vigo d’Arsouilles x For Pleasure) has passed away at the age of 20, Haras de Clarbec announced in social media on Thursday.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that our Vagabond left us on October 29, 2025,” the French stud shared. “(…) We met him when he was 4 years old at his breeder Geert Baertsoen and immediately felt that he was a special horse. He joined our stables at the age of 7. Together with Penelope Leprévost, Vagabond then climbed the ladder to become one of the best horses in the world with his characteristic desire to always do well. He made us dream and today we're thinking of all the good times we had with him. Thanks to all the team that surrounded him on a daily basis, to whom he will leave the memory of a horse with a golden character, extreme kindness and courage. His story will continue to be written through his offspring who shine on the international arenas. Adieu Champion!”
With France’s Penelope Leprevost in the saddle, Vagabond de La Pomme had a fantastic sports career before shifting to breeding duties in 2019. The pair finished as Vice Champions at the World Cup Finals in 2015 as well as ending second in the CSI5* Hermès Grand Prix of Paris in 2017, second in the CSI5* Grand Prix of Basel in 2016, third in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix of Paris in 2016 and third in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix of Chantilly in 2015 – to mention some of the many top result that made Vagabond earn almost a million euro in prize money.
