The Dutch team will have to do without former world no. one Harrie Smolders in the Longines FEI Nations Cup on home soil at CHIO Rotterdam this coming weekend. Smolders had a nasty fall last weekend at Knokke Hippique and broke a rib, which has put him out of action.
Frank Schuttert will replace Smolders for the Nations Cup, which is the last competition for the Dutch riders before Chef d’Equipe Rob Ehrens announces which horse-and-rider combinations will be traveling to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
It is not yet known for how long Smolders, who is on the Dutch Olympic short list, is expected to be out of action.
