After six successful years working for Stephan Conter’s Stephex Stables in Belgium, a page is turning for Sweden's Jonna Ekberg. From August 1, the 30-year-old will be running her own business alongside her partner Alex Duffy.

"My time at Stephex has been incredible," Jonna, who will remain based in Belgium, tells World of Showjumping. "When I first started in 2014, the plan was that I should do two-star shows. I was more than happy about that and very excited for the chances I was given. However, it all went really quick – thanks to Stephan – and with horses like Air Pia, Freestyler and Equita, I was soon competing on a much higher level than originally planned. I owe a huge thanks to Stephan for always believing in me, and for pushing me forwards. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for him and his visions. It has been a dream come true to work with such an amazing team and to be surrounded with some of the best riders in the world.”

“Having my own business has always been a dream of mine," Jonna continues. "Now, the time feels right – I am ready for it.”

During her time at Stephex, Jonna has been involved in producing equine super stars, such as Jasmien vd Bisschop and Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z. "Jonna has been an important part of the Stephex Stables-family, and it is a big loss for us to see her go," Stephan Conter, CEO and founder of Stephex Stables, comments to World of Showjumping. "She has been one of the best riders I've had to produce my horses, and has always done a fantastic job. However, I know she is strong enough to make it on her own, and I wish her the best of luck in the future."
