After a break of ten months, Luciana Diniz has announced that she is returning to international competition – and that she will be back competing for Brazil.

On her official Instagram account, Diniz shared the following statement on her comeback:

"A Monday full of surprises, dreams and emotions.

I officially announce my comeback to sport in new colors: Green and yellow.

After a break of almost a year, 16 amazing years wearing the red and green colors of Portugal in 3 Olympics, London, Rio and Tokyo, TOP 10 in the last two and Nr 4 in the world ranking list, we went through countless success and glory stories. I would like to thank you for all the learning, care and affection I have received from the Portuguese.

Just as the tides change, I will once again be wearing the coat of Brazil with which I participated in my first Olympics in Athens.

My deepest gratitude to my parents, Lica and Nonô, my sons, Pedro and Paulo, Andreas for helping me last year to prepare for Tokyo, Alice who took care of Vertigo with all her love, to my horses, friends, partners, owners, sponsors and fans around the world.

I am full of enthusiasm to write another chapter in my colorful sporting career towards Paris.

Luciana"
