Belgium's Jérôme Guery has shared an update on his beloved Quel Homme de Hus (Quidam de Revel x Candillo), revealing that the 17-year-old stallion injured his hamstring last November and has been recovering since.

With Guery in the saddle, Quel Homme de Hus won individual silver at the 2022 World Championships in Herning, Olympic team bronze in Tokyo the year prior and was crowned European Champion with the Belgian team in Rotterdam in 2019 – but has not been seen on the international circuit since the LGCT Prague Playoffs in November last year.

On his official Facebook page, Guery wrote: "Because the story of Quel Homme is also your story, we would like to give you some news. Last November, Quel Homme injured his hamstring in the truck on his way back from the LGCT in Prague. Following this, we followed the veterinary protocol scrupulously. At the beginning of February, his return to work was not conclusive. We found him uncomfortable. Further imaging tests showed a worsening of the lesion. We decided to turn to the Equitom team to find out what was wrong. Their best orthopaedic veterinarians but also several human specialists were mobilised on his case. After further examinations, Quel Homme underwent a surgical operation which went very well. He is now undergoing revalidation at Equitom and his prognosis for recovery is very positive. We will of course give him all the time he needs to get back in shape on what he loves most, the show ring. The objective remains unchanged for the moment, PARIS 2024! Of course, his well-being and health are our priority, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that above all, Quel Homme returns to perfect physical comfort. On the breeding side, QH will remain available only in frozen semen this season. Quel Homme de Hus and his team would like to thank all the people around him who are supporting him in this ordeal, and in particular the Equitom team who are working hard every day to make his return possible."
