This week, the FEI General Assembly 2025 takes place in Hong Kong, China. On Thursday, it was time for four sessions – designed to give the national federations and all delegates an opportunity to engage in discussions.
Thursday’s first session was dedicated to discussions regarding the role of the future FEI President, while the second session focused on the rules revision and Olympic qualification systems, followed by session three on the FEI digital passport and session four on the FEI World Championships 2026.
The role of the future FEI President was discussed during session one. As current FEI President Ingmar De Vos concludes his term next year, the FEI President Role Description is aimed to help guide the election for his successor.
During session two, FEI Jumping Director Todd Hinde presented the background to the full revision of the FEI Jumping Rules. As a note regarding the proposed article 259 on Jumping Recorded Warnings, Hinde shared statistics from 2025 noting that out of 340,000 starts, 0.029 % led to blood related eliminations. To further clarify the proposed new rule, Áine Power – FEI Executive Director, Sport and Games – shared several scenarios, demonstrating what could happen when the rule is used in practice.
During session three, FEI Director Veterinary & Welfare Göran Åkerström and FEI Director Technology Operations Gaspard Dufour introduced Equipass, a digital passport for horses.
