Bertram Allen has made the most of his stay at the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain and today the Irish rider went off with the victory in the CSI4* Grand Prix that concluded week two of the traditional tour.
The win came on the 9-year-old Dino W (Berlin x L'Amour Z), and added to the collection of four victories in the Big Tour classes and dozens of ribbons from the young horse competitions. On Friday, Bertram was the winner of the Big Tour D – also then riding Dino W. Allen now travels to Doha, to continue his season there with a five-star event next weekend.
Sunday’s Grand Prix was challenging, and showcased some amazing rounds. From a field of 50 horses, eight qualified for the jump-off which was fast and exciting. Allen stopped the clock in a time of 43.46 seconds, while Czech rider Emma Augier de Moussac riding Diva (No Limit x Ticallux Verte) flew around in 44.43 into second place. Alix Ragot from France, riding Thais de Pegase (Calvaro x Emir Platiere), claimed third place in 44.55 seconds. Norwegian rider Marie Longem with Algorhythem (Tampa x Calvados) was fourth and Alex Duffy – another Irish rider – with WCE Cruco (Cruising x Darco) fifth.
