It was a home win for French veteran Michel Robert and the 12-year-old mare Emerette (Diarado x Chellano) in Thursday's CSI4* 1.45m Longines Ranking class at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France.
The 73-year-old Robert beat his younger compatriot Edward Levy on Sirius Black (Calisco du Pitray x Laudanum) by 0.11 seconds in this competition against the clock. Paul Delforge – also representing France – ended third with Terre du Banney (Crown Z x Olisco), a second behind the winning time. Italy’s Filippo Marco Bologni was the only guest in the top five, claiming fourth with Quidich de La Chavee (President x Apache d'Adriers), while fifth went to France's own Marie Demonte with Las Vegas Vd Padenborre (Calvaro F.C. x Diamant de Semilly).
"All the quality that one expects from a competition is to be found here at Hubside Jumping," Robert said after his victory. "Whether it be the grounds, or the facilities dedicated to horses, this show is absolutely brilliant!"
