Edited press release from Vilamoura Equestrian Centre
On Friday, the CSIO3* 1.50m Grand Prix sponsored by GARVETUR took place at Vilamoura Equestrian Centre in Portugal. The course was designed by Elio Travagliati and counted 13 obstacles and 16 efforts. Out of the 60 combinations that entered the arena, only ten reached the jump-off, that had riders from seven different nationalities in it.
To start the jump-off, the Germans – Pia Reich on PB Chaconie (Chacco-Blue x Kannan) and Sophie Hinners on Concordia 49 (Colorit x San Patrignano Cassini) – delivered double clears, but the Swedish rider Linda Heed delivered a really fast round on Decurio (Diarado x Cornet Obolensky) and seemed to have a sure win waiting for her after stopping the clock at 38.20.
However, Great Britain's James Wilson and Imagine de Muze (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin) still managed to improve the time and finished the course in only 37.66 seconds – taking home the win and pushing Heed to second and Hinners to third. Portugal's Francisco Rocha on Lanzarote de Muze (Clinton x Heartbreaker) took the fourth place while Reich placed fifth.
