The French finished strong in the CSI4* Carrière Bresse Arena Prix Grand Prix Ville de Bourg en Bresse, with Mathieu Billot making it a popular home win riding Shiva d'Amaury (For Pleasure x Lando). The pair also won the 2016-edition of this Grand Prix.
Aboard the 11-year-old mare, the French rider moved on to jump-off as one of five riders in this 1.60m competition worth 70 000 Euro.
Only two riders managed to jump clear rounds in the jump-off, and Billot stopped the clock at 42.35 seconds which was good enough for the victory. Not too far behind followed Ireland's Marc McAuley on Miebello (Quite Easy x Cardento) in 43.10 seconds.
Billot's compatriot Alexandre Fontanelle finished third on Prime Time des Vagues (Diner's Time x Helios D'Aumont), recording the fastest time of the class in 40.45 seconds but on the expense of a rail down. Colombia's Rene Lopez on Big Brother (Untouchable x Gran Corrado) finished fourth with four faults against the clock, and Belgium's Constant Van Paesschen riding Compadre van de Helle (Casall Ask x Concerto II) fifth finishing on eight faults in the jump-off.
