A total of 50 competitors battled to win Friday's CSIO4* 1.55m Grand Prix, the prize of PKN Orlen under the patronage of Polska Press Group, at Jumping Warsaw. Course designer Andrea Colombo came up with a hard nut to crack, with a track of 13 fences, including one double and one triple combination – confirming its righteous status as a qualifier for next year's European Championships. As it seemed before the start, the fourteenth obstacle would be time. And, indeed, there was no space to breathe around the course, which complicated things for many riders – but in the end, 15 horse-and-rider combinations delivered clear rounds.

In the jump-off, Jörne Sprehe and the 10-year-old mare Hot Easy (Andiamo Z x Otangelo) delivered the winning round. The German rider took an all-the-way risk towards the final fence and clocked the time of 37.98 seconds.

"Hot Easy was just great today. I am so proud of her, as I also did the best I could. She is going to have a break tomorrow, and after that she will be seen at the Sunday's final. Our team is having a night out tonight, we should probably get a bit of chill at some downtown restaurant," Sprehe said.

Belgium's Wilm Vermeir, the winner of Thursday's world ranking class, finished second today with the 13-year-old Joyride S (Toulon x Pachat II) after stopping the clock at 38.14 seconds. His compatriot Thierry Goffinett took the third place, with a time of 38.39 seconds, riding Carequicka (Caressini L x Quick Star).
