CSI4* Bolesworth International 2015

Andrea's blog

Hey everyone,

I'm very happy to be this week's guest blogger.

We're at the CSI 4* Bolesworth International show. After Marlon's and Angelica's amazing wedding last weekend, on Tuesday night we were all organized for our trip to England... Off we went with 15 horses and 5 grooms in 3 trucks. A long drive through the night including a train ride to England, later we finally arrived at the show and it was time to set up.

Our riders Marlon, Angelica, Pieter and Enda, our boss who's also taken up riding again, arrived in the afternoon after the vet check to exercise the horses a bit. Marlon took it quite easy because the horses were also a bit tired after a night of driving so he rode only Casper, our new very promising 8 year old, and Cavalia, she's also 8 and my little princess, we call her Lia. I lunged Clarimo, our 6 year old with always a bit of spare energy and hand walked Vera, our 10 year old mare who's very special to me.

Kate, Pieter's groom, made a really nice BBQ for all of us at the end of that rather easy first day.

The show is really nice. The international ring looks amazing with the water around and from the castle arena you have a really nice view onto the castle... Everything is at a good walking distance, the stables are quite close to the ring and the trucks are basically just parked between the stables and the ring. What's a bit annoying for us in the stable is that the water pressure is quite bad, it takes a long time to just fill up water buckets and at times there's no water at all in the wash boxes...

Our first day of jumping we started with Casper jumping a really nice round in the 140 in the international ring. Next up was Lia, only that Casper's class had started late and Lia's class was in the castle arena. We asked Ebba, who is here to help us a bit, to start lunging Lia while we jumped Casper. By the time Marlon had gotten on Lia, we had one horse to go in because he wasn't allowed to go later... But Lia knows the job and even with a rather quick warm up jumped a nice round ;)

After all it was quite a successful day for our Ashford Farm team with Pieter being placed with both his stallions, Enda being placed 4th in the 2* 140 class and Marlon winning the 6/7 year old class with Clarimo at the end of the day :)

I'll let you know on Sunday how the rest of the weekend is going for us but now it's time for me to go to bed!

Best wishes

Andrea
