Lebanon’s Karim Fares is a well-known rider on the international circuit, who focuses on producing young horses up to Grand Prix level. Over the past decades, 46-year-old Fares has gained a great deal of experience working with horses at all levels. Fares finds the use of Equine 74 Gastric a very important part of his stable management.

“I have been using Equine 74 Gastric for six months, and currently I am feeding it on a daily basis to my whole stable,” Fares explains. Through Olympic rider Johan Heins – Equine 74 Gastric distributor in the Netherlands – Karim Fares got to know the product. “With some horses, my vet was advising me to use Gastrogard because they seemed to be suffering from stomach ulcers and sometimes colic symptoms. I also wanted to try an alternative for Gastrogard, so I tried another Gastric product for a while. When I was having a drink with Johan Heins one day, I was talking with him about the ulcers and the stomach problems. He said he had been using a very good product for a couple of weeks and happened to have some of it in the backseat of his car. He gave it to me and said: ‘Just try it and if it works for you, let me know,’” Karim tells.

After a couple of weeks of using Equine 74 Gastric, Karim Fares could tell a difference with every horse. “It was mainly the horses that used to be a little bit difficult to ride or horses that tend to be hot, that were giving me the most positive feedback. They got less spooky at home, and less stressed. From then on, I could work my horses without having to deal with stress symptoms.”

First Karim Fares only used Equine 74 Gastric on the horses he knew to be suffering from stomach problems, but after a few weeks he started to feed it to every horse. “It takes a little while, but after a month you can definitely see a difference with every horse. They show it in all kinds of ways: Their coats get better or they start eating better, or they are calmer at work. All my horses have benefited from it!”

Producing young horses, Karim Fares has to deal with new experiences for his horses all the time and this can cause stress. “For young horses, going to shows and having to work, can be bit tougher than for a more experienced horse. Sometimes they will be sweating a lot because of the stress or will show other symptoms. Because Equine 74 Gastric levels the enzymes in the stomach during digestion and gets the horses more balanced, the stress will reduce. The work I do with my young horses is much more efficient now thanks to Equine 74 Gastric.”

For Karim Fares, Equine 74 Gastric is more than a treatment –  it is a part of the daily feed of his sport horses. “I use it as prevention and maintenance for my horses, and to most of the horses I feed Equine 74 Gastric the whole year around. When I spoke to Johan Heins, he told me that 70 percent of the horses create ulcers because of stress coming from hard work, transport and shows. That is why I am convinced to use Equine 74 Gastric on a regular basis, so it will work as a prevention. Equine 74 Gastric has truly become a part of my stable management,” Fares concludes.
