As a favorite among the Lyon crowd, Kevin Staut’s victory in Friday night’s CSI5*-W 1.60m Longines Grand Prix with Urhelia Lutterbach (Helios de la Cour II x Emilion) was a popular one.

Sixteen riders made it to the jump-off, but it was the French rider that came out on top with a time of 36.15 in the jump-off.

It was Staut’s first five-star Grand Prix win with Urhelia Lutterbach, a former mount of Grégory Cottard. "It's a wonderful story. Gregory used to ride the horse and had achieved some great things with her. I started riding her back in June. I felt comfortable riding her right from the beginning. She jumped a lot of clear rounds. Gregory always told me that she jumped well indoors, that she was more focused. She certainly proved it tonight," Staut commented.

It was a double for the French as Alexis Deroubaix and Timon d'Aure (Mylord Carthago*HN x Drakkar Des Hutins) finished second with a time of 36.85. The podium was completed by the Swiss European Champion Martin Fuchs with Silver Shine (Califax x Balou du Rouet) after they stopped the clock at 37.42.

Only two more riders managed to deliver double clear rounds: Belgium's Pieter Devos who finished fourth with Jade vd Bisschop (Ogano Sitte x Grannus) and Italy's Emilio Bicocchi who took fifth with Evita SG Z (Verdi TN x Codexco).

It was a great day for the hosts, as Julien Epaillard and Queeletta (Quality x Landor S) also made it a home win in the 1.50m Equi Generali. They were followed by Brazil's Yuri Mansur on Everglade (Clinton x Voltaire) in second, and Epaillard's compatriot Mathieu Billot on Lord de Muze (Nabab de Reve x For Pleasure) in third.
