The Swiss equestrian magazine PferdeWoche has crowned France’s Kevin Staut the most successful Nations Cup rider of 2022, with twelve clear rounds throughout the year. With ten clear rounds, Belgium’s Koen Vereecke finished second, followed by Dutch rider Harrie Smolders in third with nine clear rounds.
On the country statistics, Belgium was the best with 83 clear rounds ahead of Ireland on 75 clears and France on 67.
The Nations Cup season of 2022 was closed off in Vilamoura, Portugal. According to PferdeWoche, 765 clear rounds were produced at 33 different shows around the globe.
42-year-old Staut, excelled in nine different Nations Cups – and furthermore at the World Championships in Herning, Denmark. Staut rode two horses that delivered exactly the same number of clear rounds – six each: Scuderia 1918 Viking d'la Rousserie and Visconti du Telman.
“Even if it is not an ‘official’ title – I’m still very happy. This title means a lot to me, it’s a great idea,” Staut said to PferdeWoche. “I am a rider who loves to compete in these team competitions. For me the Nations Cup is the best product we have in the whole equestrian sport.”
